Stainless steel

200 cm

Location: Façade of the Departments of Engineering, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

Owner: University of Cassino and Southern Lazio

The work consists of a large stainless steel disc, which is two meters in diameter and hung quite high on the wall. The artist marked the surface with a dense net of grooves and grindings that creates a chaotic game of reflexes.

This way, Bassiri, in line with his previous work, highlights the subject matter of the work and has – so to speak – animated the otherwise flat disc, creating an irregular movement that gives the impression of living, moving matter (like the sun’s surface).

Simultaneously, the artist’s method accentuates the contrast between the regular geometric shape and the texture of the wall lining.
